FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

When Guild re-introduced the X-500 in 2000, they offered it in two versions. The first version, the X-500, was the traditional dual humbucker design used from 1963-94. The other version, the X-500T shown here, was fitted with a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquity P-90 pickups and Guild/Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. The 2000 Guild catalog stated that "...the new X-500 and X-500T were developed in collaboration with Dave [Gonzalez of The Paladins]." But the re-booted X-500 needed a new name and since this version resembled the X-500 and X-550 used by Mr. Gonzalez, Guild chose the name "Paladin" for the model. To confuse the model naming, Guild also offered an X-550P Dave Gonzalez signature model which is similar to, but not the same as, the X-500T. The X-500T was only made from 2000-03.
