FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
In 2019 Fender introduced a mid-priced Jaguar model made in Mexico as part of its Vintera Series of vintagey guitars. Vintera seems to be a mashup of "Vintage Era" as the guitars are not specific to year, but only to a "era". In this case, the Vintera Jaguar seems to most closely resemble the early 1962 Jaguar with its slab fingerboard. The Vintera Jag was offered in two finishes - traditional Sunburst and Ocean Turquoise which is like Lake Placid Blue that has turned a bit "green" due to yellowing of the nitrocellulose. This model is fitted with a tortoise pickguard that is too ugly so a parchment guard was fitted. Vintage Jaguars were fitted with a flip-up mute, but it was omitted on the Vintera. While players either ignore it or remove it, a Jaguar with a mute just looks wrong so one was added to this guitar to complete the aesthetic package.
