FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The Super was Fender's first multi-speaker amplifier introduced around 1948. Originally called the Dual Professional, the name was changed to Super around 1950. Through the 1950s the Super's circuit evolved and was refined. In 1960, the Super was given an entirely new circuit as well as a facelift. The new circuit (6G4) was basically the same as the Concert, Pro and Bandmaster, except that the Super had a tube rectifier instead of solid state rectification of the other amps. The 6G4 Super was superceded by the 6G4-A which had a more complex tremolo circuit. While the tweed Super Amps were quite popular, the brown tolex Supers were only produced for 3 years before being dropped in favor of the 2x10 Vibroverb - essentially a Super Amp with on-board reverb - in 1963.
