FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The Skyhawk Signature model first appeared on the 1990 price list, though earlier examples exist, and was discontinued by the end of 1991. Typical of late 1980s Skyhawks, this example has the re-styled body and pickguard of the period in addition to the matching headstock option. The headstock is the more familiar G&L shape as found on the S-500 and "super strat" models from the period. It seems that the Skyhawk was most often fitted with the Interceptor's "sickle" headstock while the the Skyhawk Signature was fitted with the S-500 headstock. Another interesting tidbid is that cherry sunburst seems to be the most popular color for Signature series G&Ls. The notable feature of this guitar is the maple body as few maple guitars were made after 1988.
