FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
The Starfire VI was reissued in 2016 as a '60s inspired model as shown here. The biggest and most glaring "error" is the Chesterfield inlay on the headstock. The Starfire VI historically had the G-shield headstock inlay, but Guild decided that only guitars made in the US would use that inlay. Interestingly, the model was prototyped 2 years earlier in 2014 and that particular guitar can be found on Guild's website. The guitar was first offered in natural, followed by Shoreline Mist and Snowcrest White in 2021. There was also a special run in 2016-17 of Cherry Red with nickel hardware. The Starfire VI is basically an extra fancy version of the Newark Street Starfire V. It has 6-ply body binding, single bound headstock and F-holes, V-block fretboard inlays and gold hardware. Perhaps the biggest difference that, well, makes a difference is that the SF-VI has a body constructed of laminated maple fitted with a 3-piece maple neck. The SF-V has a laminated sapele ("mahogany") body fitted with a 3-piece mahogany neck. The body/neck difference results in a small, but noticeable, shift in the SF-VI's tone being a bit stronger in the midrange with a snappier response.
