FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
Guild is better known for its guitars than for its amplifiers. Since their amps were not very popular in a market dominated by Fender, Gibson, and Ampeg, they are relatively rare. Despite their lack of popularity, Guild amps are well designed with fine tone. In fact, many of their amps used designs that were superior (and more expensive to produce) than those used by Fender. The Masteramps, introduced in 1954, were the first amplifiers offered by Guild. These included the Masteramp 60 (1 x 12” speaker) and the Masteramp 110 (1 x 15” speaker). These are quite similar to Multivox’s Premier amplifiers of the period and it’s possible that Multivox made the Masteramps for Guild.
