FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The GSR X-150D was introduced in 2013 and was limited to 26 guitars. The body dimensions are the same as the Corona-made X-150D and X-180, but it has a laminated spruce top instead of a maple top. Most 16 inch archtops have maple tops making the GSR unique. However, it's where the body was made that is the main point of interest with this guitar. The short answer is that the guitar was assembled and finished in Guild's New Hartford facility, but it seems the body may have been made in Korea or Japan while the neck was made in New Hartford. No matter, it's still very much a Guild. The reissue HB-1 pickups were made in Korea and are articulate with a good amount of top end. It works well for jazz and blues, but also pop and rock thanks to the bright sound and Bigsby tailpiece.
