FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

With Martin's new "grand jumbo" body design, the Grand J35E 12-string was meant to compete head-to-head with the likes of Gibson's SJ-200 and Guild's F-55 acoustic guitars. The guitar featured style 35 cosmetics and D-TAR Wave Length Multi-Source electronics. Like its 12-string sibling, it was not very popular and the Grand J was discontinued after the 2010 model year. This particular example had a sweet voice, but did not work well in acoustic ensembles where it got lost in the mix.
