FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
The G-45 was introduced in 1983 as the Hank Williams Jr. signature model. With its arched-back maple body, the G-45 was based on the G-37, but with upgrades including scalloped braces. The early version was available with or without the HWJ signature on the pickguard. The G-45 was discontinued in 1986, but was re-introduced in 1994 with a smaller headstock and Grover tuners in place of the previously used Schallers. Unfortunately, it proved unpopular and was discontinued (again) by 1995, but rose from the ashes as a non-signature model, the D-60, from 1998 to 2000. It's a shame it wasn't more popular because the sound is full and robust. With a maple body and neck, one might think it would be a very bright sounding guitar, but its tone falls between that of mahogany and rosewood wtih an even response from bass to treble. Overall production of the G-45 was low and, if you believe the notoriously inaccurate serial number charts, less than 175 were made.
