FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

Pre-1962 Ampeg amps are relatively rare as a result of low production in the company's various New York based workshops. Production increased after 1962 when Ampeg move to a larger facility in Linden, New Jersey. In 1955, the catalog was expanded to include the Guitaramp, Bassamp, and Accordiamp model lines. Ampeg's offerings were expanded even further in 1957. Included in the Guitaramp series was the Model 6020 "Zephyr Duette." Oddly, the amp shown here only has "Duette" silk screened onto the control panel. Since this amp was voiced primarily for use by jazz artists, the Model 6020 has a very clean sound. The resulting tone is perfect for jazz or clean rhythm guitar.
