Beginning in 2011, G&L would occasionally make some guitars and basses using East Indian Walnut (monkey pod) for the bodies. Due to varying availability, the wood was not a cataloged option and G&L produced instruments with East Indian Walnut at their discretion, including the Doheny shown here. This guitar showcases the wood's beauty, light weight and resonance and confirms that monkey pod is a very good choice for the large, offset-body Doheny.
