FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
The D-30 was introduced in 1987 as the successor to the G-37. It enjoyed a long production run from 1987 to 2001. As with the G-37, the D-30 has a laminated maple body with arched back and solid spruce top. The G-37 has straight X-bracing while the D-30 uses scalloped X-bracing. Both have 3-piece maple necks. The D-30 was available in natural, sunburst, black, Tennesse Orange and wood grain (transparent) finishes. The earliest models from 1987-88 have chrome hardware while all years thereafter have gold hardware. The rosette pattern changed at the same time as the hardware change. While maple bodies are often thought to be produce a bright sound, the D-30 is actually warm and lush.
