FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

You're probably thinking "Hey, I clicked a link for a Guild D-26 and this is clearly a Guild D-25 25th Anniversary model". Well, it turns out that they are the same model, but with a different name. The D-25 25th Anniversary model and the D-26 were both introduced and available only in 1995. They are based on the D-25, but have slightly fancier top binding and gold tuners. The most important feature is they both have lightly scalloped top bracing while the standard D-25 is straight-braced. The scalloped bracing gives the guitar a bottom end boost as well as increased overtones. The D-26 was an exclusive model for Guitar Center. Both models had a light tint body and neck stain while the standard D-25 had a dark stained body and neck. They were also fitted with a tortoise pickguard instead the standard D-25's black guard. But wait, the photo below shows a dark stained guitar with a black guard. What gives? There are other examples of 25th Anniversary D-25s with dark stain and black pickguard. You can thank Guild's inconsistency for that.
