FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

Guild revamped their GAD line of guitars in 2015 and dubbed it the Westerly series in honor of Guild's former Westerly, Rhode Island factory and to sell more guitars by making the buyer think these were made in the US. Yes, that's  snarky cynicism. It's a nice guitar, though, and it's made of solid wood with scalloped bracing. Like the other acoustics made in China, this guitar has scarf joint construction for the headstock and heel. It's strong, it works, but it can be ugly. To the designers' credit, the D-1212 is a very easy-to-play 12-string guitar thanks to its slim neck. The sound is well-balanced and sweet making it a versatile guitar.
