FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
The ASAT BB Semi-Hollow followed the introduction of the
solidbody version -- the ASAT BB. These models were designed
by Tim Page (Buffalo Bros. Guitars of Carlsbad, California) and Seymour
Duncan (Seymour Duncan Pickups) though they clearly followed what
Fender players (e.g. - Keith Richards, Andy Summers) had been doing to
their Telecasters for years. The ASAT BB is essentially an ASAT Classic
fitted with a neck
humbucker.
The 7.5-inch radius fingerboard has vintage-style Dunlop 6230 frets.
The guitar was available with either a rosewood or maple fingerboard
with a gloss lacquer finish over a gun oil tint. The neck
plate is
engraved "Special G&L Edition". The "BB" denotes
"Blues Boy"
as this model was intended to have blues tone in spades (and it
does!). There were only 20 solidbody and 12 semi-hollow ASAT
BB's
made, but due to the immense popularity of this limited edition,
G&L put the ASAT BB into regular production as the ASAT Classic
Bluesboy in 2001 in both solid body and semi-hollow versions.
