FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

The early Legacy guitars (1992-94) used the highly regarded Seymour Duncan Vintage series pickups. Later models came equipped with G&L wound alnico pickups.  It was offered with an alder or ash body with a rosewood or maple fingerboard.  The guitar shown here is still early enough to have the Duncan pickups and semi-gloss neck with satin headstock, but late enough to have the Japanese-made pots and press-fit control knobs. The early BBE-made G&Ls are very high quality and still have many features from the Leo Fender era making them excellent instruments. After production manager Lloyd Chewning's death in mid-1993, quality was spotty in the mid-1990s as the company made personnel changes in the factory. In addition, more of the old and desireable features such as metal vibrato cover and copper middle vibrato spring were eliminated.
