FACTOIDS & TRIVIA

After a 26-year hiatus, Guild re-introduced the Starfire V from 1999 to 2001. It was based on the contemporaneous Starfire IV, but with block fingerboard markers, master volume, roller bridge and Bigsby tailpiece. While the Starfire IV was available with an optional mahogany body, the Starfire V was only available with a maple body. The earliest examples of this model, such as the one shown here, were fitted with Seymour Duncan SD-1 pickups, but most used Fender HB-1s. The rebooted Starfire V was not terribly popular and therefore, had a short production life with fewer than a couple hundred made.
