FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
The Guild 100-J was introduced around 1958 and is similar to the Guild 99-J, except the 100-J has a 15-inch speaker and a unique phase inverter circuit that uses two 12AX7s in parallel instead of the 99-J's single phase inverter tube. As with contemporary models from Ampeg, Guild amplifiers were aimed solely at jazz guitarists and were voiced to be clean and a little dark. Being cathode biased, it doesn't have the output power of the fixed bias Fender amps (like the 6G5 Pro Amp), but it has a certain sweetness like the cathode biased Ampeg M-15. The Guild 100-J was discontinued in 1966.
