FACTOIDS & TRIVIA
The SB-2 was G&L's entry level bass along with its single pickup sibling, the SB-1. This model was introduced in late 1982 and was produced through 1984. As a budget model, the early SB-2 had a smaller, non-contoured slab body and no-frills electronics. Despite its “economy” status, the SB-2 remains a versatile instrument and a credit to Leo Fender's design genius. The bass shown here is an example of a the first style SB-2 from the last year of production. After 1984, its maple fingerboard was replaced by rosewood and it was renamed the Lynx Bass. First style SB-2s are considered rare because they were only made for two years in relatively small numbers.
